Hello, everyone! I hope your chilly Wednesday has been 1Dful! (get it) I'll keep this short yet quite detailed so here's a recap of 6th period:
I came a bit late to the hallway but because of my SLOD duty, I remembered to hold the door open. (Props to Vinh for being first to hold the door once Ms. K opened it. No props to Brian because he completely forgot about him being SLOD. There, there. Just kidding!) I'd like to acknowledge all the people who noticed Vinh and I holding the door and give a special thanks to the people who said thank you. (Although, in my opinion, I do not want people to feel obligated/forced to always say thank you or acknowledge "the chosen ones" because, like Hannah previously wrote, there may be people who are occupied or not as observant.)
After everyone was settled in class, Vinh, Brian (who again, completely forgot and needed to be reminded) and I read the board. [HW: print out CH 4 Study Guide for AF] Then, we were off to get our AF books. After what took most of the class period, we walked back and were given points for our group uniforms. We were also assigned to write about topics (chapters or main characters) on the white poster paper.
Towards the end of the period, Valerie and Eddie were dueling to answer AF-relevant questions. Reward: gain 2 extra points for their groups. If I remember correctly, Valerie won about 2-4 points for her group? Well done! It looked like fun and I encourage all of us to try it at least once!
Now for our QOTD:
What are some ways we, as a class, can stay on task? Please elaborate on your ideas!
there should be a clear goal for us. without a clear goal or purpose of what we are doing, there will be no motivation to get it done.
ReplyDeleteI believe that our class can stay on task best if we have a clear understanding of what the task is for example. Sometimes, miscommunication and lack of understanding lead to the wrong result or have students just fool around. Additionally, I believe that having some stricter policies, not to completely take the fun away, but find a way to make sure the task gets done so we students can actually learn and understand the concepts and objectives needed to be reached.
ReplyDeleteOh hey I'm the third comment Lolz
ReplyDeleteBut I believe the class can be more in task if (like what the two above said) the goals of the moment or activity in the class are clear. I also believe that some key skills we need would be organization, time management, and to some extent, assertiveness (did I use that right?)By the students and teacher to prevent too many disruptions from taking class time.
Oh goodness, I'm ashamed I didn't see this until today. Thanks for the report and I'll answer this now.
ReplyDeleteI feel like we can stay on task if we're motivated on doing so without too much distractions. Explicitly stating why we should be doing such a task to encourage us to want to do it for our own benefit (or for others) should help. It's really easy to get carried away if you're paired up with talkative friends or the like but with a sense of urgency to get it done should help.
Great question! Sorry again for being so late to answer. I don't think my answer is too satisfactory so sorry for that too.
The best way to stay on task as a class is to have a common goal. I feel people work their best when they have something to work for.
